Our History and AimsBreathworks Cardiff was founded in 2006 to provide the training developed by the Breathworks community to the Cardiff and South Wales area. It was registered as a Not-for-Profit social enterprise company, limited by guarantee, in May 2008. Until February 2010, it was run solely by volunteers and any income generated through running courses was used to finance the training of additional trainers. In addition to providing courses we aim to develop the skills of those who wish to become Accredited Trainers. Supervision and Group PracticeIf we are teaching mindfulness to others, it is essential that we have a regular effective practice ourselves and a means of support, combined with the possibility of discussing our practice with other trainers. We can provide individual supervision sessions for academic students of mindfulness or for qualified mindfulness trainers, working in the field. If there is sufficient interest, group supervision sessions may be possible on request. We can also arrange practice groups to support mindfulness trainers in maintaining their own regular practice. Such events provide a context for practicing with others and a vehicle through which to explore issues arising from one’s own practice. Events will be arranged depending on sufficient interest. Future DevelopmentsWe are currently working on developing a range of mindfulness courses to address specific needs not currently within the scope of the standard 8 week course and will advertise these when they become available.
