Our Trainers

All our trainers have completed the Breathworks Accreditation Programme and are insured. They have on-going personal mindfulness practices, supervision, and take part in a personal development programme by attending regular mindfulness retreats. This substantial training ensures the integrity and effectiveness of our trainers.

You can learn more about the Accreditation Programme here at the main Breathworks site (Manchester).

We currently have six accredited trainers.

Why is Accreditation and training important?

For a mindfulness trainer to be effective he or she must embody mindfulness, and this requires regular on-going personal practice.

The influential book "Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression" describes how the researchers designing this therapy (which has many elements in common with the Breathworks programme) discovered the necessity of embodiment.

"This was different from our earlier conception of mindfulness as a technique in which patients could be trained by therapist who might or might not have been mindful him or herself. If the therapists themselves are not mindful as they teach, the extent to which the class members can learn mindfulness will be limited."
