Testimonials from some Course Participants

I came across the Breathworks Project at a particularly low point in my life. As a result of work related stress, I had been advised to take early retirement at 49 and my life seemed to be falling apart. Although I was very nervous about attending the course, I was very soon put at ease by the caring, hands on approach of the trainer. Each week we were introduced to a different concept that built on the last and the meditations were an oasis in my shattered life. Although my condition was never going to be cured by the course, the tools I learned I could use every day and they helped me to put some meaning back into my life. I found I could pace myself and achieve a quality of life I thought I had lost forever. What has changed is not my life but my relationship to it and by actually experiencing my life from moment to moment I don’t need to worry about what might happen. I would have no hesitation to recommend this course to anyone. — (GC)

I found the Breathworks Living well with pain and chronic illness course a revelation. It equipped me with new tools that I slowly began to incorporate into my day to day life and which are still with me. Skills like pacing and mindful movement have had a big impact on the way I try to manage my days and life. The three minute breathing space is a gem-it never fails to bring me back in touch with myself and using it throughout the day allows me a sense of calm and control over an often unruly mind. The course was delivered in a sensitive and professional manner, no trouble or question being too much for the trainers to answer. Quite simply, the course has altered the way I manage my recurring illness and changed my approach to life. — (SB)

As I feel I have gained so much from completing the Breathworks course, I just wanted to say “thank you.” The course has certainly helped me to live more in the moment and begin to see there is balance. One knows that nothing is permanent and it is freeing to know that I have a choice whether to change or not. I find I have a tendency to tell myself stories about situations, rather than letting them be... I am privileged to have had this opportunity, so thank you again. — (LN)

I have been suffering from a condition called labyrinthitis, which is an inner ear disorder, which has left me feeling dizzy and anxious. I was experiencing panic attacks as a result of the condition and it also left me feeling exhausted. The condition affected my ability to do every day tasks and I was no longer able to work as a result of the illness. The course became a breakthrough in my recovery. Participants were able to practice the techniques in a friendly, non-judgemental environment and incorporate these into their daily lives. I began to see how the course was having a positive impact on the participants. The confidence of myself and others grew, we were able to do things that we were not able to do before the course and we felt more confident with managing the conditions we were experiencing. Since the course, meditation, yoga and relaxation have become part of my daily life. I am able to understand what is happening to my mind and body when i am feeling anxious and am able to cope so much better with the illness as a result of attending the course. It has changed my life and has given me the confidence to go back to work. I have been so impressed by the course that I would like to become a trainer myself so I can help others who may be in need of support. I believe the course should be available to everyone who suffers from any stress related illness as it is invaluable and enables people to live much happier and fulfilled lives. — (SL)
